Young carers from around North Tyneside have worked together to produce a colourful and creative piece of artwork.
As part of the YES Project (Young Carers Exceptional Stories), a piece of artwork has been produced by young carer groups from various schools and clubs around the borough.
Starting as a lone fish in the sea, the image developed as it visited each group, ending up as a vibrant portrayal of their local area.
Elected Mayor Norma Redfearn said: “It’s so important that these amazing young people get the recognition they deserve for the work they do.
“The effort that has gone in to the artwork is absolutely fantastic and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have.”
The artwork will be displayed at North Tyneside Council’s Quadrant HQ until September 26.
A young carer is someone under the age of 18 who helps look after a family member or friend who is ill, has poor mental health, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol.
North Tyneside Carers’ Centre, first launched in 1994, provide direct emotional and practical support to carers of all ages; and offer training to organisations in health, social care, education and the voluntary sectors to assist staff in identifying and supporting carers.
