What makes North Tyneside special?

Press release: An abstract view of the Council crest

North Tyneside Council is inviting the public to let it know about a building or park that they feel deserves recognition.

The local authority is reviewing its Local Register, which sets out the buildings and parks of special architectural and historic interest within North Tyneside.

They could be everyday landmarks or have more hidden qualities, but they must have something special about them.

Being on the Register means that the importance of the buildings or parks will be recognised and be taken into account if planning decisions are being made that affect them.

However, they may not be as important as listed buildings and would not be protected in the same way.

There are currently 146 buildings and parks on the Local Register in addition to 224 nationally listed buildings. An online database of all Local Register and listed buildings and is available at www.northtyneside.gov.uk/planning by following the links to ‘listed buildings’.

Nominations are being sought by the planning service, which is delivered for North Tyneside Council by its partner Capita.

To nominate a building or park, please provide as much relevant information as possible by Friday, July 21 2017.

Email: planning.policy@northtyneside.gov.uk or write to North Tyneside Council, Planning Policy, Quadrant East (First Floor Left), The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside, NE27 0BY.
