Residents can take steps to support local charities with an organised walk being held in North Shields.
The Chair of North Tyneside Council, Cllr Cath Davis, is inviting people to join her to raise money for her chosen charities by taking part in a three-mile walk around the historical sites of North Shields.
The walk takes place on Saturday 30 September, starting at 10am from The Linskill Centre on Linskill Terrace, North Shields.
Walkers will go through the town centre to the Fish Quay, along the riverside path and back – ending in Northumberland Park, North Shields, at around 11.30am.
There will be children’s activities and live music in the park until 2pm.
Entry fee is £5 per adult and £1 per child, with all proceeds going to the charities – Maggie’s Cancer Centre, YMCA North Tyneside and North Shields Live at Home Scheme.
Cllr Davis said: “I wanted to do something a little different to raise money for my charities, all three of which do fantastic work which benefits people of all ages in our borough. We have chosen this route to showcase the highlights and landmarks around North Shields and everyone is welcome to join us.”
The route is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Tickets are available in advance from www.northumberlandpark.eventbrite.com, at North Shields Customer First Centre, or from The Linskill Centre on the day.
