Proposed Amendment to North Tyneside Council's Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy

The Authority’s Licensing Service is responsible for licensing hackney carriages, private hire vehicles, their drivers and private hire operators.
The current Hackney Carriage and Private Hire Licensing Policy permits advertising of two-dimensional insignia type to be displayed on the rear doors, rear wings and boot area of licensed vehicles and along the top 8 cm strip of the windscreen of the vehicle provided that it is not illuminated and bears only the name and/or telephone number in block letters of the firm operating the vehicle.
The Authority is now consulting on whether to extend the area that advertising can be displayed on vehicles to include the rear screen and also whether to permit in-car digital advertising in seat headrests.
