A touch of glass

Residents can now take advantage of a festive deal being held by North Tyneside Council.

As part of the council’s commitment to recycling, for a limited period of time, residents will be able to purchase, and collect, a caddy at a reduced rate from their local customer first centre.  Caddies will be available at a special price of £2.50 between December 7 and December 21.

The limited offer will aim to give residents who don’t already have a caddy the opportunity to get one, at a discounted rate, in time for Christmas, when glass usage and collections are at their highest level. Residents must be able to collect their caddy at the time of purchase to be eligible for the offer.

Cllr Carl Johnson, cabinet member with responsibility for the Environment, said: “We know how important recycling is to our residents, so for us, it is vital that we make sure they have the equipment needed to do it.

“So much more excess recyclable glass is generated over Christmas, so this is a great opportunity for resident s to get a new caddy at a reduced rate to start using over the festive period”.

Only one caddy per household can be purchased – this is because only one caddy per household will be emptied on collection day. Caddies must be placed inside a residents bin for collection.

The offer is available while stocks last. For more information, call 0345 2000 103 or visit any North Tyneside customer first centre.
