North Tyneside pays its respects

Thousands of people from around North Tyneside gathered at services across the borough to pay respect to the country’s military heroes.

As part of Remembrance Day, North Tyneside Council organised a number of services on Sunday 10 November giving residents the chance to take part in the commemorations.

Parades and acts of remembrance were held in Whitley Bay, North Shields, Longbenton and Wallsend, with the local community also getting heavily involved and hosting their own events, such as marches and wreath-laying.

Also, as part of Armistice Day on Monday 11 November, an act of remembrance and two-minute silence took place at the North Tyneside Post-1945 Jigsaw War Memorial, in Killingworth, where hundreds of people attended to pay their respects.
