North Tyneside Council Sustainable Transport Schemes 2021-23
Consultation details
Following several successful bids for funding, North Tyneside Council is seeking views on plans to provide around 14km of new cycling routes across the Borough including an option for the first ‘Dutch-style’ roundabout in the region. The council has secured nearly £1.6m from the Government’s Active Travel Fund (ATF) and £7million from the Transforming Cities Fund (TCF) for cycling improvements.
This consultation seeks views on various elements of each scheme and responses are encouraged to be provided for both the overall route and individual scheme elements. The detail of each proposal varies as the ATF schemes have been prepared to Outline Design stage, whereas the TCF schemes are at an earlier concept stage. We are keen to hear your views on the routes being proposed and the level of provision (for example, segregated / shared use / quiet ways) proposed along them. There will inevitably be some sections where highway space is limited and compromises in provision may be required and we would ask respondents to identify any specific challenges (e.g. loss of parking, reduced road width) they can foresee with the proposals.
