Popular festival returns to Wallsend

The popular Wallsend Festival returns next weekend with a free and fun-packed programme.

Now in its 21st year, the community event will take place in Wallsend town centre on Saturday 2 July, between 10am and 4.30pm.

There will be live music throughout the day at the bandstand, just outside of the Forum Shopping Centre. Local artists from the Standing Upright project will be performing, as well as the Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia.

A selection of local traders will be selling crafts, gifts and food produce, alongside information stalls where people can find out more about services in North Tyneside such as recycling.

The popular fairground will return to Coronation Street car park and a collection of vintage cars will be on display on High Street East. People can take a look inside and chat to the owners to find out more.

Wallsend Customer First Centre will be open until 1pm with free art and craft activities for children.

Segedunum Roman Fort and Museum will be open with free admission all day.

On the Sunday, Wallsend Hall and Green will have fairground rides, live music, craft stalls and entertainment for children, and Richardson Dees Park will be offering a full day of fun outdoor activities.
