A vibrant event celebrating the diversity of North Tyneside is set to return on Bank Holiday Monday (August 29), with planning well underway.
North Tyneside Together is a free family event featuring live music and entertainment, as well as face-painting, sports coaching, circus skills training and small fairground ride for children to enjoy.
A range of organisations will take part and it provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to learn about each other’s cultures and traditions.
The event takes place from 10am-4pm in and around the soon-to-be revitalised Northumberland Square, North Shields.
It is organised by the council’s Ethnic Diversity Community Task Force, whose members work together to tackle racism and celebrate equality and diversity throughout North Tyneside.
North Tyneside’s Elected Mayor, Norma Redfearn CBE, who chairs the Task Force said: “Hundreds of people came along to enjoy the music, food, and fairground attractions in 2021, and we are hoping to repeat that success on the August Bank Holiday.
“Once again, we are inviting residents to come along, meet new people, and help us celebrate the culture and creativity that makes our borough such a special place to live.
“This will be the first event to take place in and around the revitalised Northumberland Square, so the location will be extra special. I hope everyone has a fantastic time.”
