Local business plans to expand in North Tyneside

Verisure's Centre of Excellence at Quorum Park, North Tyneside

A high growth North East based business has committed to delivering a total 1,000 local jobs over the next seven years as they set to expand their global company in North Tyneside.

Verisure, which opened a new Centre of Excellence in Quorum Park in the height of the pandemic, plans to expand further following success in the borough.

The company, the leading provider of alarm systems to residential and small business customers in Europe, is quickly expanding its customer base worldwide, with their UK headquarters based in North Tyneside.

With a 500 plus strong team already in place, Verisure are committed to expanding their team by 2030, and will be running a prolonged period of job-creation believing the North East to be the best location to recruit from. To enable this they have moved into their brand new premises in Quorum that will accommodate their full workforce.

Managing Director, Gabino Sanchez, said: "I'm delighted that our expansion plans are ahead of our original forecasts. We came to the North East at the start of 2020 and then Covid hit. But due to the tremendous workforce we have at Verisure, we've excelled and, in just over two years, have recruited over 650 people.

"Quorum Business Park have been stellar in its support of us. When we first moved here, we set our sights on the building we've now moved into which, to some, seemed like a pipe dream, when we only had a skeleton team of people. The Quorum team has been very supportive in our journey and growth.

"The North-East has proven to be the perfect place to have a major arm of our business. The city, the culture and the people. Our aim is to continue to grow."

Kevin Croft, Site Director at the Centre of Excellence, said: “I am extremely proud of the can-do and supportive culture we have developed at the Centre of Excellence and am delighted that, during these uncertain economic times, we can offer high quality jobs.

“Many of the people we employ have taken the opportunity to progress their careers further with us by upskilling and showing a positive attitude. We are building a strong, cohesive team and looking to support them further with the recruitment of people with potential that we can develop and who will grow with us.”

The company’s move to the region was supported by Invest North East England and North Tyneside Council’s business investment team, who were able to convince the company that Quorum Park was the best location for their new UK base. The North of Tyne Combined Authority provided Verisure with investment, which helped secure its move to the region.

Cllr Carl Johnson, Deputy Mayor of North Tyneside, said: “I’m delighted that Verisure chose to set up their headquarters in our borough, which is due to the exceptional workforce available to them in the area. The people of North Tyneside are hardworking, productive people, and it’s fantastic to see a global company recognise this is a great place to invest.”

Elected Metro Mayor for the North of Tyne, Jamie Driscoll, said: “Verisure gets it – the North East is one of the best places in the country to do business. They'll be creating even more jobs here, which is great news for the region. I'm glad we could support them as they continue to go from strength to strength.”

The business chose North Tyneside as its base after a competitive country-wide search. The move will see it gradually growing into the office, with an initial 34,000sq ft of space occupied by its team. Verisure has an 11-year lease on the premises.
