Camperdown, Forest Hall, Howdon, Killingworth, North Shields, Wallsend, Weetslade and Whitley Bay

TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC ORDER 2024

 

North Tyneside Council gives notice that it intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.  The effect of the Order will be to prohibit all through traffic on various roads in North Tyneside to allow full width resurfacing of the carriageway as follows -

 

Camperdown

On the Dudley to Fordley link road from the Roundabout to Front Street Annitsford.  An alternate route is available via the A189 and the B1321.

 

On Front Street at the Side road in front of numbers 13-22.  An alternative route is available via Annitsford Road.

 

Forest Hall

On the full length of South Croft.  An alternate route is available via Westcroft Road, Studley Villas and Granville Drive.

 

Howdon

On the A1058 Coast Road to A19 Interchange from the Westbound slip from Churchill Street onto Coast Road.  An alternate route is available via Westcroft Churchill Street and Coast Road.

 

Killingworth

On East Bailey from The Paddock to Silverstone junction.  An alternate route is available via East Bailey and Citadel East.

 

On the full length of Garth Sixteen.  An alternate route will be signposted at the location.

 

North Shields

On B143/Nile Street from Nile Street – Albion Road to West Percy Street.  An alternate route is available via A193.

 

Wallsend

On the full length of Dene Crescent.  An alternate route is available via High Street East and Boyd Road.

 

On Mullen Road (Parkside Terrace) from the junction of Mason Road to outside number 85 Mullen Road.  An alternate route is available via O’Hanlon Crescent and Conway Gardens.

 

On Station Road from the junction of Buddle Street down to new development (behind Segedunum Visitor Centre.  An alternate route is available via Buddle Street and Old Mill Road.

 

On Station Road Service Road from outside numbers 518 to 580.  An alternate route is available via the A186, Hotspur Road and Mullen Road.

 

Weetslade

On the full length of Beacon Drive.  An alternate route will be signposted at the location.

 

On the full length of Rayleigh Drive.  An alternate route will be signposted at the location.

 

On the full length of Thorntree Avenue.  An alternate route is available via the B1318 Front Street.

 

Whitley Bay

On B1324 Marine Avenue from the Junction of Park View to just past the Co Operative.   An alternate route is available via the A193 and The Links, and Marine Avenue and Queen’s Road.

 

The Order will come into force on 1 January 2025 for a period not exceeding three months. Closures will take place at separate times during this three-month period.

 

Specific dates of each closure will be displayed on site, via advanced warning signage before works commence.
