(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF STOPPING EXCEPT TAXIS) ORDER 2025
North Tyneside Council gives notice that it has made an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of the Order is to prohibit any vehicle from stopping except licenced taxis on:
East side, from a point 5 metres south of its junction with Russell Street, in a southerly direction for a distance of 14 metres;
East side, from a point 6 metres north of its junction with Russell Street, in a northerly direction for a distance of 18 metres.
The temporary Order is required to assist the operation of the North Tyneside Hackney Carriage Trade during the temporary suspension of the Prohibition of Stopping at Anytime except for Taxis restrictions on the service road to the northern boundary of North Shields metro station, whilst building works are in operation. The Order formalises advisory road markings that were previously installed as part of the North Shields Regeneration Project.
The Order came into force on 13 March 2025 and lasts until 31 September 2025.
