NOTICE OF ELECTION
North Tyneside Borough Council
Election of an Elected Mayor
1. An election is to be held for a local authority Mayor for North Tyneside.
2. Nomination papers can be obtained from the office of the Returning Officer at Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, NE27 0BY.
3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Room 3.12, Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, NE27 0BY on any day after the date of this notice but no later than 4 pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
4. A deposit of £500 must be paid for each candidate by the deadline for delivery of nominations. The deposit can be paid by legal tender, a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as a banker in the United Kingdom or by debit or credit card.
5. If a candidate’s election address is to be included in a booklet to be prepared by the Returning Officer, it must be submitted to the Returning Officer before 4pm on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
6. Each candidate by whom an address is submitted for inclusion in the election booklet must pay £750 to the Returning Officer by way of contribution towards the expenses incurred in respect of the printing of the booklet. The £750 must be paid by the deadline for delivery of nominations as outlined above.
7. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 1 May 2025.
8. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by midnight on 11 April 2025. Applications can be made online: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
9. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, NE27 0BY by 5 pm on Monday, 14 April 2025. You may apply online or download a form at apply for a postal vote - GOV.UK or contact the Electoral Registration Office direct.
10. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (free voter ID, or an Anonymous Elector's Document valid for this election, must reach the at Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, NE27 0BY by 5 pm on Wednesday, 23 April 2025.
11. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, NE27 0BY by 5 pm on Wednesday, 23 April 2025. You can find information and dependent upon your proxy type apply online at apply for a proxy vote - GOV.UK.
12. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election applied for on grounds of physical incapacity, where that physical incapacity occurred after 5 pm on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Quadrant, The Silverlink North, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside, NE27 0BY by 5 pm on Thursday, 1 May 2025.
