North Tyneside Council is consulting on how it carries outs its enforcement activities.
It is seeking views on its Statement of Enforcement Policy - an ‘umbrella’ policy that applies to all its enforcement functions, which include prosecutions, injunctions and the seizure of goods.
The policy is reviewed every three years and, as part of this process, public consultation is now underway ahead of the next policy coming into force.
From yesterday (December 7) until 5pm on Monday, February 29, 2016, the public have the opportunity to provide feedback and give their views.
Cllr John Harrison, cabinet member for Environment and Transport, said: “We know that most people comply with the law.
“However, there are some that don’t and they can range from fly-tippers to nuisance neighbours.
“It’s important we have a robust policy in place to ensure we can firm and swift action where necessary. Our enforcement policy sets out our approach and, as part of our review of it, we would welcome the public’s views.”
The draft policy can be viewed on the council website at www.northtyneside.gov.uk – click Business – Trading Standards. Hard copies are also available to be read in the borough’s Customer First Centres. Feedback can be given:
