Timetable for Reception class applications
PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION RELATING TO OFFER DAY FOR SEPTEMBER 2025 RECEPTION CLASS.
National Offer Day for starting Reception class in September 2025 is the 16th April 2025.
If you apply online using the Portal, and asked to be notified by email, you will receive an email on this day telling you the school your child has been allocated. You can also log on to your account on the Portal on the 16th April 2025 to find out what the response is to your application.
If you applied on a paper form, on the 16th April 2025 you will be sent a letter by second class post telling you the school your child has been allocated. Please do not contact us until you have received the letter. We will not be able to give you any information by email or telephone until you have received the letter.

- If your child has not been allocated a school/s you applied for, and you want to appeal against this decision, please go to Education Appeals on the North Tyneside Council website, where you can fill in your appeal online.
- If your child has been allocated a place at a school you have not applied for this is because the Local Authority have to offer you a school, and the place allocated is the nearest school to where you live with a place available. If you don’t want to accept this place and want to be considered for another school, you must complete an application form to be considered after the 2nd May 2025. To do this application forms are available here. You cannot apply online as the system is closed.
- If the school you have been refused is not in North Tyneside we cannot advise on the appeal process, you will need to contact the Local Authority the school is in.
- If you want to accept the place your child has been offered, you can do this on the Portal if you applied online. Alternatively you can email us at school.admissions@northtyneside.gov.uk, we can accept the place on your behalf or complete your acceptance letter and post it back to Admissions.
- If you want to go on the waiting list for a school you applied for but were not offered, please email us and we can add you to the waiting list.
- If you do not want to accept this place and would like to apply for another school, please fill in a paper Common Application form. These are available to print out on the North Tyneside Council website.

National Offer Day for Y5 of a Middle school, Y7 of a High School, and Y9 in Monkseaton High School or Whitley Bay High School to start in September 2025 is the 3rd March 2025.

- If you applied on a paper form, on the 3rd March 2025 you will be sent a letter by second class post telling you the school your child has been allocated.
