Swimming in North Tyneside

North Tyneside Council has four leisure centres with swimming pools at:

Children's pool admission policies

The child admission policies for each swimming pool can be found in our Customer Charter, here.

Children’s swimming lessons

Due to the popular demand for swimming lessons across North Tyneside pools applications for the waiting list are currently suspended.

There is a particularly high demand for lessons at entry levels (1, 2 and 3) and our pool depths and public programmes make it very difficult for us to increase the number spaces available. We have therefore decided to remove the option to join a wait list to allow us to work through current applications.

If your child can develop their swimming ability with another lesson provider up to level 3 or beyond, you can still contact our pools and ask the swimming team to assess their ability on an individual basis. There may be a chance they can access the programme at a higher level where there is less pressure. For information on the competencies required for each level, please visit the Swim England website.

We apologise and thank you for your patience. If you are already on the wait list and have an enquiry, please email: swlqueries@northtyneside.gov.uk

Please keep an eye on our web pages and social media feeds for updates on when spaces may become available.
