You can view our Books of Remembrance online at:

We send the books to specialist calligraphers who inscribe entries. If you want an inscription in time for the first anniversary of a death, your application must be submitted to the office as follows:

Memorial Kerb Plaques are available in the following locations for a 10 year period:

• Holy Cross Cemetery Main Drive
• Tynemouth Garden of Remembrance (limited availability due to popular demand)
• Whitley Bay Memorial Garden

The allocated space behind each kerb plaque is limited to the width of the plaque itself. We ask that you take care not to encroach on the space reserved for adjoining plaque owners.

Tynemouth Garden of Remembrance also has Recordia Plaques which are fixed to the sandstone pillars around the garden. These plaques are also in place for a 10 year period.

Unfortunately, there is no provision for Recordia Plaque owners to place a vase or token in the Garden of Remembrance or at the base of the pillar. You can place flowers in the vases provided in the Book of Remembrance room at any time.

A quality hard wood, varnished bench and a cast iron inscribed plaque with a message of your choosing (subject to word limit). The seat will be placed in your chosen location from a list of pre-allocated spaces for a 10 year period. During this time, the seat will receive 3 refurbishments and twice yearly inspections to ensure it remains in good condition. The cost of any repairs or replacements as deemed necessary because of any damage, theft or vandalism will be covered by North Tyneside Council under the terms of the agreement. An additional 2 plaques can be purchased (at an additional cost) for your seat at any time during the agreement.

At the end of the 10 year agreement you will be given the option of extending the agreement and keeping the seat in place for a further 5 years. This will be subject to a further fee but it will continue to receive twice yearly inspections and 1 refurbishment. Alternatively, on expiry of the agreement the seat and/or plaque will be delivered to a North Tyneside address free of charge.
