North Tyneside Council gives notice that it has made an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order under Sections 1, 2, 9 and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other enabling powers. The Order will come into force on 4 September 2023 for a period not exceeding 18 months when the Council will decide whether to continue with the restrictions indefinitely. The effect of the Order will be to introduce a prohibition of driving for motor vehicles (with certain exemptions) to create pedestrian and cycle zones on the following lengths of road, on Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 08:30 – 09:00 & 15:00 – 15:45:
a) Weardale Avenue, Forest Hall from its junction with Avondale Avenue to its junction with Clydedale Avenue;
b) Clydedale Avenue, Forest Hall for its entire length;
c) Allandale Avenue, Forest Hall for its entire length; and
d) Martin Road, Howdon from its junction with Elizabeth Road to its junction with Howdon Lane. Mondays to Fridays between the hours of 08:15 – 09:00 & 14:45 – 15:30
Background documents relating to the Order, including a list of exemptions, may be examined below. If you wish to question the validity of the Order or any of the provisions contained within it, on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred on the Council by the 1984 Act, or that any requirement of the Act or of any instrument made under the Act has not been complied with, you may within six weeks from 20 July 2023 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
