The Early Years ‘Child Alert’ aims to ensure early intervention and appropriate signposting to either a universal, targeted or statutory offer.
What is it?
The Early Years Child Alert informs the council of a child aged between 0-5 years (preschool) who may require additional strategies or intervention at home or in an early years preschool setting. Connecting children with the most appropriate offer that can best support their individual needs. Support, advice, guidance or training may be offered.
Who is it for?
- Early Years providers
- Parents or carers
- Professionals (non-healthcare)
- Schools
Why is it needed?
- To ensure that children reach Reception age with their needs being recognised and supported.
- Some children have complicated needs that may require additional support and resources other than that which is ordinarily available.
- This support will need to be carefully considered and planned for.
Who is my information shared with?
We may need to discuss your child’s information with:
- Partners from a private, voluntary or independent early years provider
- The academy or school that your child attends.
Sharing this information with health, early help and education teams will help us to identify the most appropriate support service to meet your child’s individual needs.
The Early Years ‘Child Alert’ referral will be considered by a panel of early years specialists to help make sure that children and families get the right support when they need it most. The outcome will be Universal/Local Offer, Targeted or Statutory Service.
