About the centre
Located on The Links in Whitley Bay, Waves has an ever-popular wave machine, high octane slides for adults and children alike, and a special aquatic play area featuring our very own pirate ship for younger visitors.
Waves also offers an extensive range of pool classes and activities, including aqua classes, lane swimming, adult and junior group swimming lessons, one-to-one lessons and pool parties.
Our Contours gym offers state-of-the art equipment and a comprehensive programme of classes are delivered from expert instructors in our modern studio.
We also offer soft play for children, which can be hired for private parties, and is located conveniently next to our coffee bar offering a range of drinks and snacks.

Pool programme
Waves has a popular wave machine and aquatic play area featuring our pirate ship, The Rock Hopper. Aboard the ship there are mini slides and water squirting geysers. There is also a tipping water treasure chest and water squirting animals in the play area.
For children and adults alike, there are three high octane slides in the main pool area – compete against your friends to see who can get down the quickest!
Waves also offers an extensive range of pool classes and activities.
The changing area includes single, double, family and group changing cubicles, individual buggy parking spaces, baby changing facilities and a vanity area. There are also accessible ‘Changing Places’ changing rooms available for customers who have a disability.

Child admission policy
Please remember:
- Children aged between 0 and 3 years old must be accompanied in the water on a one child to one adult basis;
- Children aged between 4 and 8 years old must be accompanied in the water on a two children to one adult basis;
- Children aged 9 years or over may attend the pool without adult supervision;
- An adult is defined as anyone 16 years or older who is responsible and competent to ensure the safety and wellbeing of any child in their care.
