Subscriptions for the 2025 garden waste service will close on Friday 4 July and reopen in the autumn for collections in 2026.
Our garden waste collection service has changed
If you use a brown bin for your garden waste, we want to make you aware of the changes that have been made to this service.
Like most councils, our costs are going up and government funding to deliver services is reducing.
Reluctantly, we have taken the decision to introduce an annual charge for the garden waste service.
The charge will be £30 for collections, between March and November 2025, which works out at around £1.67 for each collection.
What happens next?
Sign ups for 2025 collections are closed
If you do not want to use the garden waste service in 2025, you do not need to do anything.
Please keep your garden waste bin at the property in case you decide to subscribe later. We will not automatically remove your bin if you do not sign up.
Other options
You’ll need to find other ways to manage your garden waste. You can:
- take your garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre ‘tip’ for free,
- compost at home, with the option of purchasing a subsidised composter,
- share a garden waste subscription with a friend or neighbour: or
- use our special collection service where you can get up to six bags of garden waste removed for £10.
After you subscribe
You will receive your bin sticker and calendar as soon as possible
You can cancel your subscription within 14 days of making a payment. After this period, cancellations and refunds are not permitted.
