Statutory review of polling districts and polling stations

North Tyneside Council has recently carried out a statutory review of its polling districts and polling places.  These reviews happen every five years.  The review looks at the suitability of polling stations and how they meet the needs of the electorate.  

An initial consultation took place from 8 October 2018 to 7 December 2018 with views being sought on the current situation.

Following this the Returning Officer, working with the Electoral Services Team, put forward a set of proposals taking into account the following criteria:

• the number of electors assigned to the station
• turnout at the station
• accessibility for voters
• most efficient use of available resources
• any known issues which needed to be addressed

Following further consultation on these proposals, a report was considered by full council on 26 September 2019 and the outcome of the review was approved.  Set out below are the results of the review including the designation of polling districts and polling places and the information from the council meeting.

This information will also be published at our office at Quadrant, Cobalt Business Park and at Customer First Centres across the borough.
